Saluting Spring 2020 Graduates

Dear Graduates,

There is no doubt that Spring 2020 was a difficult semester for you. Despite the adversities, you successfully completed the semester and are now graduates of the University of Houston-Downtown. Congratulations!

As you embark on new journeys, UHD will always be a part of you. The experiences gained at our university have prepared you for new challenges, and the friendships you have forged here will accompany you for years to come.

Likewise, you are always a part of UHD. Our doors remain open to you. I encourage you to remain in contact with your alma mater, and to thank those faculty and staff members who supported you throughout your UHD journey.

In fact, you will have an opportunity to reconnect with them when UHD officially reschedules its Spring 2020 Commencement. As you are aware, that event has been postponed until December. Rest assured, it is our goal to host a ceremony that celebrates all of our Spring 2020 graduates and we look forward to spotlighting your achievements. More information regarding this event is forthcoming.

UHD also will share details for its first Virtual Graduation Celebration very soon. This event will take place at 7 p.m., June 11 on UHD’s Facebook page. It is not a substitute for a graduation ceremony but rather complements it with surprise dignitaries and area celebrities toasting your accomplishments. This will be a very special event to be experienced in your homes and shared with friends and family members.

The entire leadership of the university regrets not being able to greet you and celebrate your success in person. That moment will come in due time. Until then, continue to stay healthy and remain Gator Proud!

Congratulations, graduates!
